Whenever I pass by the area where this restaurant is located, it never fails to put a grin on my face. Wouldn’t one be amused by its name and the fact that it’s a Mexican restaurant? I was. As amusing as its name, rest assured that their dishes are of no laughing matter.
With a pretty straightforward menu, one would not have a hard time choosing what food to choose. You just have to pick your (1) main course (tacos, burrito, burrito bowl or salad), (2) filling (steak, chicken, carnitas, picadillo or grilled veggies), (3) side dishes (which is optional but included here is their dessert), and (4) drink (hello Margarita…and others).
Adorned with countless photos on its red walls, the place has this very casual vibe that creates a good setting for catch-up sessions with friends. And while waiting for your food, you can even play games.
For those who cannot live without some spice in their dishes, fear not as they have a hot sauce library to quench your spicy thirst. Although their selection seemed to have lessened (it used to be a lot before), they still offer a good variety of hot sauce that would give one that much needed kick. They also have a salsa bar where one could get unlimited jalapenos, tomatillo, limes, chipotle, pico de gallo, and habanero.
On to the main event: THE FOOD
For some odd reason, I always choose their burrito bowl with chicken. I don’t know why but there’s something about that metal bowl that makes me want to order it again and again. Yes, it’s GOOD. It’s a testament to my love for chicken and for this dish.
I tagged my friend along and she chose this. Forgot the price but it doesn’t matter as she loved every bite of this. It actually made me rethink my burrito bowl addiction.
No margarita for me this time. Or ever. HA. I’m not really into alcoholic drinks but this is probably the closest that I can get to drinking a full one. Whenever I see IBC Root Beer on one’s menu or list of drinks, I must order it. This is the only softdrink that I can finish. It was the perfect pair to our burrito creations.
One must always have room for dessert. And what better way to cap the whole meal off but with a spicy chocolate brownie ala mode! The thing with their desserts is that it’s not really posted on their menu so one must ask what it is. And on that day, they had this. Drizzled in caramel sauce, the brownie has this slight kick to it which I enjoyed. Once eaten with the vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce, there’s this battle of slight heat and cool in your mouth. Though my friend said she tasted better ones out there, I liked this one.
So if you’re craving for some awesome burrito, grab your friends and head on to Chihuahua. I’m sure you’ll have a good time with your buddies and immensely enjoy the food. Buen provecho!
