Experiencing Bo’s Coffee

bo_wall2I was expecting to see the familiar in this café. I was expecting to be all nostalgic while drinking a good cup of coffee. You see, I used to visit their branch in Katipunan just pouring over books, and feeling the night time rush. It was cramming-before-an-exam at its finest. But to my surprise, the place looked different. Aside from their interiors, their menu changed too. It was an upgrade to what they had before. And I got excited.

bo_wallThe interiors of their Makati branch had this unfinished finished feel to it with concrete walls and interesting lights. I especially liked the map which plots out where they source their coffee beans.

Just some of their pastries. Must try them all next time!

bo_benguet sunrise2Their Benguet Sunrise piqued me so I just had to try it. No latte art on this one but the presentation was beautiful. The whipped cream was swimming in the coffee concoction while the coffee beans, that were sprinkled with chocolate powder, float on by. Mixed with condensed milk, it gave this coffee this slight sweetness which was good. Though I prefer my cup to be stronger, this was okay. Considering that it was already night, this sunrise drink was perfect for that time of day.

My friend opted for their Froccino. Yeah, this would seem like a total rip-off of Starbuck’s Frappuccino based on the name but tastewise, no comparison there. She chose their Chocolate Chip Froccino Primo and according to her, it was good. I just find it odd that they placed a sleeve in the cup. I mean, it’s a cold drink. Why…

Gone are the days of night time rush. This new Bo’s Coffee experience was replaced with a relaxed night experience with hush hush talks over homegrown coffee. In general, drinks and food here are cheaper than other cafes. It’s no wonder a lot of people flock to this place. Aside from the price, the premise of supporting local goods is a big plus for me. The service though was a bit slow. I had to tell their staff to clear our table, and follow up on my order. But that’s just a little hiccup. I’ll definitely be back here to try out their other coffee creations. 🙂
