Meet Zubuchon, the happiest pig

Z_2What greeted us as our first lunch in Cebu? Well, this very happy pig who seems to be gleefully strolling down the block. And it seems to be spreading happiness to its customers around this metro. Me included 🙂

I’ve heard rave reviews about this so it was a no-brainer that I would have this. At first, I found it too sour but I got used to it, and eventually loved it. It was a good palate cleanser to our chosen dishes.

My friend chose this which was quite refreshing (yeah, had a sip of it). Good palate cleanser too 🙂

Monggo with Zubuchon (P 190)

The weather was quite gloomy when we arrived, and this soup was the perfect dish in energizing us up. It has generous amounts of Zubuchon’s chicharon on top. It was quite creamy with generous servings of monggo.

Zubuchon Lechon (1/2kl: P 240)

Now for the main event: THE LECHON. To be honest, I don’t eat lechon much. Everytime there is a gathering, I would usually skip it. I’m just not a fan. But I knew I had to try lechon in Cebu. It was a must. And I’m glad I obligated myself to eat this. It was GOOD. The pork was very tender. It didn’t need any sauce as it was very flavorful with all the infused veggies inside. And the skin…OH MY. It was crispy and good. Just looking at the photo above makes me want to pack my bag and eat another round. It was really good. And I couldn’t help myself in taking more photos. It was so beautiful. 😛

I’m very glad that happy pig strolled down the block. It made me and my friend very happy on our first official day in Cebu. Aside from the delicious food, the service was really good. The servers offered to take our bags as we ate, hailed a cab for us to go to our hotel, and even held the umbrella as we got onto the cab (it was drizzling that time). If ever I swing by Cebu again, I’ll definitely drop by this resto to be happy again. 🙂

And oh, I really couldn’t get enough of the lechon. So lucky me, they have a branch at Mactan’s Departure Airport where I got to eat another round. I still prefer the one at their branch than this one but it was still good. And yes, it still made me happy. 😛
