This is the closest thing that I could get to having that Parisian experience. Well, for now. Yes, I hope to one day fly to the heart of France, munch on a very French sandwich with a cup of coffee on my other hand, and stare in awe at the amazing Eiffel Tower. Ah…’tis but a dream. Again, for now. 😛
As my former colleagues and I headed to this French restaurant, a bubble of excitement brewed inside. I have never tasted legitimate French cuisine so I was kinda excited for this. So did this restaurant live up to my French expectations?
Translation: The Soul of Wine
One night, the singing soul of wine in bottles:
“Man, I pushed to you, O dear disinherited,
In my prison and my rosy waxes,
a song full of light and brotherhood!
In you I fall, ragweed plant,
Precious seed sown by the eternal Sower
That is born of our love poetry
Springing to God like a rare flower!
I already had a dish in mind. As I informed the server of my chosen dish, I was disappointed as all of their fish dishes were suddenly unavailable. My other companions were lucky as they were able to get the last seafood dishes. I kept thinking how it was possible that early on during lunch time that it wasn’t available. I tried to understand their reasons behind it, and went ahead with my chosen dishes below.
And this crepe saved the day! This dish was so simple yet very flavorful. It was filled with ham, cheese, mushrooms, onions and bell pepper topped with that perfectly cooked sunny side up egg. The crepe was just right: not that thin or thick, and possessed those slightly crusty edges. I also liked how it was presented with the lettuce on the crepe’s sides. This was one hearty and fresh dish for me.
Below are the dishes of our very big group that time. 🙂
As we dined like a family in that very long table, we were all very happy with our chosen dishes. Now to answer the question above, this did not live up to my French expectations. It exceeded it! I liked how the dishes were fresh, simple, and very flavorful. In terms of price, a bit pricey but fairly priced given the food quality. Plus, the servers speak French. It really makes up for one good Parisian lunch. 🙂
