This place not only celebrates the Italian flag’s colors but Italian food as well. And on a sunny midday, this hole in the wall place seems to be a good place to have some authentic Italian cuisine. Shall we? Sì! 🙂
I was surprised at the number of people coming into this place. One would normally miss this somewhat elusive restaurant. It only has this signage outside, and a small cemented staircase that leads to the resto. The interiors of the place seem grand with that red napkin neatly arranged on the double layered table cloth (which by the way, reminded me of the Italian flag). With upholstered seats and multiple forks on the side, I knew that I would be in for a treat.
Isn’t it just simply gorgeous? I fell in love with the colors and the arrangement of this dish. This beautifully plated salad consisted of lettuce, olives, carrot strips, and tomatoes layered with mozarella and basil. The tomatoes were sprinkled with oregano. This was slightly drizzled with extra virgin olive oil which added to the fresh taste of this salad. Indeed, this was a good starter for our main dish.
GREAT! Just great! It really was! Another seemingly simple dish with fresh seafood and basil in tomato sauce. We had this split into two (so the photo above was my share). It had a generous amount of seafood, and the right amount of tomato sauce that make for one savory dish.
This place is an ideal place for quick meetings, dates, or simple bonding with good friends over wine and food. The service here was good as they really attend to their customers’ needs. They were properly dressed too with the whole vest and necktie going on (some were even wearing blazers. I felt underdressed! Ha!). So if you’re craving for some Italian food, head on here and celebrate great Italian cuisine at La Grotta Cucina Italiana!
