I dare you to say “Tokyo Tonteki” ten times very fast. Did you get your tongue all tied up? Well, I did. I’m poor with tongue twisters anyway. But dining at this place surely wasn’t a twist for me. Instead, you’ll get astounded by their perfect tonteki.
There were a lot of diners during dinner time. All were probably curious as to what a perfect tonteki, or pork loin steak, would taste like. Though there seems to be multiple details at this place, it stays true to the Japanese minimalist fashion. And for some reason, the pattern on the couch reminds me of Greece. With enough lights and cool interiors, it really sets the mood for some perfect steak.
All set meals come with miso soup, rice and cabbage which are all unlimited. And I was glad that was rule. Why? I had an extra serving of cabbage because the pork was so good! It was very tender, juicy and flavorful. There was hardly any fat on this one so every bite was sure worth it. They didn’t scrimp on the very good sauce there. It goes well not only with the pork but also for the rice and cabbage.
It may look dry and lacking some sauce in the photo but this was actually good. Right amount of sauce in. Same with the pork, the chicken was very tender and juicy.
