Waiting for Churreria La Lola

LLC5“These churros better make me cry.”

The guy behind me exclaimed that line, and I just had to quote him. 45 minutes. Yeah, I think that was the waiting time before I got ahold of those churros. It does seem crazy to wait that long for that snack but let me tell you, those churros were crazy good.

LLCThis churreria was just a small stall at Powerplant Mall with a few tables and chairs outside. Since the line was long and hype was still up, nobody would ever notice those tables and chairs.

LLC1LLC2LLC3LLC4With that equipment and cooking technique that the guy above is doing, this seems like a legit place to get some authentic churros. All were prepared with much care and precision that you’re sure to get some hot churros.

LLC_churros1LLC_chocolateSomething must be said about its container as that can hold up to 18 pieces of classic churros. With its handy dandy pocket on the side for the hot chocolate dip, you can stroll around the mall while snacking on this.

Churros Clasicos (Medium @6pcs: P 110)
Churros Clasicos (Medium @6pcs: P 110)

LLC_churros2Went for the good old classics here since that would really be the basis if the churros were good or not. And I must say, this was well worth the wait. It was AMAZING! I thought it would be oily just by looking at how it was fried. But it didn’t taste oily at all. It was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. On its own, it was slightly sweet thanks to the lightly sprinkled sugar. It really is good on its own but more awesome if you dip it in the hot chocolate. 😛

Horchata (P 250)

I’ve always wanted to try this drink. It was inexplicably good and paired nicely with the churros. I couldn’t quite grasp the taste but I would liken it to that of rice or almond milk (with a twist of course). What I didn’t like about it was its price. For that cup, it was expensive.

Homemade Iced Tea (P 95)

This was too sweet. And not a good pair since it might overpower the gentle sweetness of the churros.

LLC6Not sure if the guy behind me cried when he got his churro servings but I didn’t. When I bit into this, it just made me close my eyes and exhale in sweet churro satisfaction. No wonder people line up for this as it was really good. Aside from the classics, they have other churro concoctions and some sandwiches too. And you bet I’d be willing to line up again (but I’m hoping it’s not that long anymore! Ha!) for more of these amazing treats. 😀
