And Tim Ho Wan has landed

THWI might be a few months late on this. But that was intentional. Didn’t want to go here while the buzz and hype was still high. Still, I was expecting the lines to be long, and to hear a couple of grumbling tummies (including mine). Impressively, we got seated fast. So glad this famous Michelin resto has landed in Makati.

THW1THW4THW3THW2The restaurant was packed with hungry customers. This place isn’t perfect for some chit chats after. It’s like you’re there to just eat and run. The chairs weren’t as comfy as I would have liked them to be though there’s this section with some couches. It doesn’t matter though as the real highlight here are their dishes.

Pan Fried Radish Cake (P 145)
Pan Fried Radish Cake (P 145)

THW_radish1I should’ve known what this would taste like but I gave it a chance. Yep, little on the bland side. Best to put some sauce for flavor.

Pork Dumpling with Shrimp (P 150)
Pork Dumpling with Shrimp (P 150)

THW_pork1Not sure what was placed on top but this was one good dumpling. Very tasty even without the soy sauce.

Steamed Spinach Dumpling with Shrimp (P 120)
Steamed Spinach Dumpling with Shrimp (P 120)

THW_spinach1I cannot believe how filled this dumpling was. It almost looks like it’s gonna burst from all the spinach and shrimp inside. At that price, you get your money’s worth for some fresh and delicious dumpling.

Rice with Beef & Fried Egg (P 180)
Rice with Beef & Fried Egg (P 180)

THW_beefrice1Very flavorful because of the sauce poured in. We weren’t able to mix this one but it’s best if we did. This is so you get the balanced flavor all throughout the dish.

Glutinous Rice in Lotus Leaf (P 190)
Glutinous Rice in Lotus Leaf (P 190)

THW_rice1THW_rice2Moist and warm, this was one good machang (zongzi). The rice was still sticky. And the filling was really good. This can serve up to two people (or just one if you’re really hungry).

Baked Bun with BBQ Pork (P 145)
Baked Bun with BBQ Pork (P 145)

THW_buns1THW_buns2Just GREAT.

Really wanted to leave it at that. Haha. But I really loved this! I loved how crumbly it was on the outside. And when you taste the bbq pork filling with everything else, you just want to close your eyes and relish in pork bun heaven. No wonder people crave and line up for these little sweet buns. 😀

Mango Pomelo Sago (P 90)

This was just okay. There were pomelo bits though I think the mango overpowered it.

Cold Barley Water (P 50)
Cold Barley Water (P 50)

One good and healthy drink to wash everything off. Very refreshing 🙂

THW5Again, I’m so glad they finally opened a branch in Makati. And I’m sure they’ll be opening up at other areas too. The food choices are few and are all paired with photos so one wouldn’t have a hard time choosing what to eat. Also, this is budget friendly. Dishes can be shared. And if you’re in a big group, you can order everything (and possibly, taste everything too). Service was really fast so getting a table (we waited for around 10 minutes or so) wouldn’t be a problem. Just make sure that your group is complete to be seated immediately.
