And the address is 101 Hawker Food House

In one of the busy avenues in Makati lies a restaurant that a lot of diners frequent to. Mostly packed during lunch and dinner hour, this food house serves up Singaporean, Malaysian, Chinese, Thai and Filipino dishes. Let’s see if this lives up to what a hawker food style should be.

I have been here a couple of times before, and have always been meaning to go back. I wasn’t surprised at the crowd that time. My group and I even had trouble finding seats. The hawker food centers that I’m familiar is usually very open and non-airconditioned. This one was open in the sense that there are minimal interiors with just the frames of their photographed dishes.

This was flavorful that could serve up to 4 people. There are minimal seafood there but nonetheless, it was tasty.

Yang Chow Fried Rice (P 170)

I wasn’t able to get a taste of this but same as with the other rice, good for sharing too.

Cereal Prawns (P 400)

This was very crispy that you could eat the whole thing (shell, heads and all). It had slight kicks of heat in between which adds a more interesting flavor to the food.

Roast Chicken (P 180)

I was looking forward to getting a taste of this. This was served last so we were expecting that it would be grand. Sadly, this was disappointing. It was served cold. Don’t know why or how it was cooked but when you say roasted, it has to be hot right? It didn’t say “Cold Roast Chicken”.

Iced Teh Tarik (P 45)

Yes, some disappointments can be appeased. And this did the trick. The drink was served hot but it came with the ice so I guess it’s up to me on how cold I want it. It wasn’t too milky and sweet that I could still taste the tea brew. And oh, the foam wasn’t there when they served it. I added some ice in, and tada! Sudden foam! Magic eh? 😛

It’s just weird that my past dining experience here was different from today. Though that was a year ago, it boggles my mind as to how that specific dish got served cold. Still, this place is a good one if you’re craving for Asian dishes that are friendly on the budget. Plus, most of their dishes are intended for sharing. Great for team lunches or night hangouts, head on over to this address and experience some hawker-style food.
