Oh how I miss Japan! Aside from touring the land of the rising sun, I especially miss all the dishes there. Down from their ramen up to their rice dishes, I just feel that I’m in food heaven whenever I’m there. Good thing there are good Japanese restaurants here that won’t make me miss that land much. It does make me reminisce on my travels especially when I step foot on this okonomiyaki place.
Hailed as the Okonomiyaki King, this restaurant was finally introduced in the Philippines last year of June. With years of experience in that dish, diners would surely be in for a treat. Aside from that, one gets to dine in comfort. Its interiors were very warm and modernly casual. With the grill taking centerstage of the table, it’s now time to judge their dishes.
Their version of a gyoza is really flat which makes it have this octagon star shape. It had a crunchy exterior with the filling right at the center. I was wary of tasting it but was pleasantly surprised that it was really good. It was so good that wanted all the serving on that plate. Hehe. To elevate the flavor up, it’s best to have it with the paired sauce.
I liked how this was prepared in front of us. The additional seasonings such as bonito flakes were added in should you wish to have it in the dish. Flavorwise, this definitely delivered. I liked how the sauce seeped in the noodles.
It’s safe to say that I had fun taking photos of this. It was just fun watching them prepare the dishes in front of you. And since this is their specialty, we got to see how they layered and beautifully prepared this one. We got their classic offer to get a good basis for their okonomiyaki. No surprise that this was really good. It was very tasty and the filling was just right. It made me all the more miss Japan. Huhuhu
As much as I miss all those glorious Japanese dishes, it’s good to know that I don’t need to book a flight to get my okonomiyaki fix. Prices of the dishes here are a bit on the expensive side but the quality and taste surpasses that. With good service and amazing dishes, it was good to have some reminiscing moments here at Chibo Okonomiyaki. 🙂
