First off, yes, I have been lagging on my blogging duties. I was prepping for our travel that this was de-prioritized. Sorry about that. But I am back with more pending entries than ever! And of course, that includes posts on my latest travel. 😉 On to this post!
I have been watching a couple of Kdrama shows the past few weeks. Yeah, that bug bit me HARD! My recent travel was good to let me lay off my soon-to-be-addiction. Good thing for that because it led me to explore good Korean restos out here. I do think most are good. Soban K-Town Grill does offer a different take on it with infusing some Western aspects to their dishes. They have some tacos and even Pinoy dishes that have been Koreanized. For that afternoon, we tried their Premium BBQ Combo Set which is priced at PhP 2,200. It’s a winner set that’s good for three to four people. In that set, you get to have 180g USDA Choice Premium Marinated Beef, 180g pork belly (choice of 2 flavors), boneless fried chicken, japchae, pajeon, egg casserole, half gimbap, 4 kimchi fried rice or plain rice, soup and side dishes. Of course, I took photos of each. Check it out below. 🙂
Before I go on to the main dishes, let me just go and say that just by looking at the rest of the set, who wouldn’t be full from these?!?! I mean, the price set for this really goes a lot. Most of the dishes in this set are really good. The standouts for me are the boneless fried chicken and japchae. I liked the slight sweet flavor of the fried chicken. Its skin was crispy too. As for their japchae, they did it just right. Very tasty with that slight sweet flavor too 🙂
Both meats were okay though I preferred the beef dish more. Both were tender but I find the flavor of the beef better than the pork one. It had this right sweet taste that’s not cloying. With the pork belly, I preferred the fruity flavor.
And I fulfilled my Kdrama dreams at this resto! Blame it on this portion of Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo but seeing them gorge on those dishes just makes you want to grab one. After dining here, we had that happy Korean grill scent on us. It was the smokeless grill type so one wouldn’t be teary-eyed here. I find the ambiance quite great. It had this raw feel where it just sets up for a casual dining experience. Service was great too. And of course, the dishes were pretty stellar. I can’t wait to try their other dishes especially the fusion ones. 🙂
