Quick donut run at Cello’s

It would be an understatement to say that I did missed this. I REALLY MISS THIS. Hahaha. Maybe it was due to budget issues that I couldn’t get ahold of this sweet treat much back in the college days. It was still quite new then, and they used to be in a different location but still along Katipunan. I remember ordering personalized donuts which got this sweet shop known for.

We went there on a Sunday, and I didn’t expect it to be filled with students. Some were probably actively engaged in school work while some were just there to chill. I remember my college days where I used to do that. Their space itself was quite small with limited seats. Good thing we just had the donuts to-go.

Coconut Donut
My fave: Cheese!!! πŸ˜€

Their Coconut Donut was a new flavor to me. The taste of coconut was very minimal. I was expecting a more of in-your-face for that flavor but I find it lacking. One of the crowd favorites as well as mine, their Cheese Donut was still the same. It had the right cheesiness that was good on its dough. I remember my first bite on this. My friend was the one who introduced me to Cello’s Doughnuts. We were at her condo and she offered me the cheese variant. I gave her a weird look for I haven’t tasted a cheese donut before. I found it to be an odd flavor. Lo and behold, I liked it and have been ordering it every time we stop by. I wasn’t able to take a separate photo of their Boston Creme but that was pretty good too. The cream inside may be a little overpowering so eat this with ease.

Pillows (Set of 10pcs at PhP105)

Since their honey-glazed donuts weren’t available that time, we settled for their pillows. This is their version of those donut holes but in square shape form. This may come with a dip but it’s pretty good on its own.

Being at this place made me reminisce so much of my college days. I remember having donut dates with my buddies as we sip on their Hot Lemon Tea (which they discontinued after some time).Β  It’s just one of those donut places that’s relaxing and very chill. I like the fact that their donuts are pretty consistent. It’s not that sweet, and has the right consistency for the dough. I liked that they keep on bringing “odd” flavors such as their Cheese, Chocnut and Coconut. And all are simple and straight to the point flavors.

There was point in time where they tried expanding but having this right at this avenue was just perfect. πŸ™‚

  1. Interestingly, they’re the third food-related tenant at that spot! It used to be occupied by Cerealicious, then Kebabers took over that spot. Cello’s first space was also right above that, then it transferred to the Mercury Drug building across Miriam College. πŸ˜€

Speaking of Cello’s, you should try to visit the Gino’s Brick Oven Pizza and Tyler’s Cafe there. All three (Cello’s, Gino’s, and Tyler’s) are owned by the same people. πŸ™‚ The latter two are located where Dairy Queen and Pizza Hut used to be along Katips.
