Got a tempura craving and want it at a reasonable price? Look no further ‘coz Tenya’s got you covered. 😉
The place was pretty big yet quite cozy. The interiors were very warm with a very casual ambiance.
Being that it was our first time, we opted for their Yume set which was good for 4 persons. In the menu, it was photographed served in a basket. When it was served to us, it was indeed served in a basket. I didn’t expect it to be so packed. The set came with 6 black tiger prawns, 6 kani sticks, 3 squid, 3 kisu (type of fish), 2 small kakiage, 3 sweet potatoes, 3 green beans, 4 rice and 4 miso. Below are the photos per component.
Among all the fried goodies, I liked the green bean and kani stick. Of course, I liked the prawn tempura. The squid, sweet potato and kakiage were just okay. As for the kisu, I didn’t like it. It had a really strong taste that I didn’t like. For each fried dish, I was glad that it wasn’t that oily. It was coated well as I could still taste the meat/veggie inside.
I wouldn’t go on and say that this is the best in the metro. To be honest, I haven’t tasted any tempura that blew my mind away. Well, the ones in Japan did but buying a ticket to satisfy my craving will leave me penniless. Hahaha. So yeah, this one will do. Besides, they have other dishes to boot and some pretty interesting desserts. Matcha Cheesecake and Cold Brew, I’m coming for ya! 😛
