Alice in Wonderland dreams fulfilled at the Hopetoun Tea Rooms

Are you familiar with the tea party scene from the movie Alice in Wonderland? It was just a happening party where there was overflowing tea amidst the very colorful backdrop. Imagine that in real life but only with finesse and minus all that mess. πŸ˜‰

This is one tea room that’s not to be missed at The Block Arcade. How could you not with display above? A lot of people have their photos taken from here because the display just looks so magical. It almost seems too good to be true but those sweets right there are definitely real. As much as we wanted to grab one of those treats, we really went here for some good brunch. I guess a couple of photos would suffice for now.

And I just heard my dentist shout my name. Hahaha. I really wished we had some bites but their dishes are just very filling.

Classic Tea Room Breakfast (A$ 20)

The combination of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, tomatoes and mushroom on that toasted sourdough was just great. I would especially highlight the scrambled eggs here for it was just tasty.

Fresh Baked Scones (A$ 7)

I just couldn’t get enough of scones! Good thing too that I didn’t miss it here. Their scones was of the right size, and paired well with the double cream andΒ  berry jam.

Flat white (A$ 4.50)

Mocca (A$ 4.50)

Bard’s Tempest (A$ 5.80 for the teapot)

OfΒ  course I had to have their tea! And since I was so excited to try it out, I instantly took a sip which explains the lipstick mark on the cup. Hehehe. Though I could’ve drank it on its own, it’s better to mix it in with milk and sugar. It was the perfect pair to our brunch that day. Their coffee was pretty good too.

We came at an early time but the place was packed already. I heard that the line here tends to get long so reservation is a must especially if you want to grab their high tea set. Its overall feel matches the interiors of The Block Arcade. When you go inside, it feels very traditional and classical. The spacing from one table to the next is a bit small though. In terms of price, yes, it’s quite expensive. It might have been better if we grabbed brunch somewhere, and had our dessert here instead. Still, it was good to have experienced this for I have somehow achieved my Alice in Wonderland dreams. πŸ™‚
