Another new one in the south! Tried to see what this resto has to offer, and if indeed their style is a fiery one.
We dined here a few days before Halloween; hence, the decorations. I liked how committed they are to the theme. In terms of overall interior design, it does have those Mexican elements to it.
True to Halloween theme, the corn chips were of black and orange color. Extra points for that! I wish I could’ve taken a video of how this was served. To make that nacho tower possible, they have it in this cylinder metal container where the server slowly pulls it up and reveals the appetizer. Nice presentation! As for the taste, it was quite good. Though some of the nacho chips were a little hard, some were still good. One could opt to have Mexican Chili Beef, BBQ Pulled Pork or Barbecued Beef Brisket. We chose the BBQ Pulled Pork which went well with the whole snack.
Good thing they have these galleon grills to get a better taste of most of their dishes. We had their Galleon of Bones which consisted of BBQ Ribs, chicken wings, meaty pork hammers and beef ribs. We opted for two rice, namely, their Chorizo Fried Rice and Southwest Red Rice. The supremo serving was good for our group of three. If you’ll be coming in a bigger group, their Ultimo serving is good for 4 to 5 persons. Now for the taste, I liked the BBQ Ribs and chicken wings. The meaty pork hammers had this weird taste for me. I didn’t like the sauce. The BBQ Ribs reminded me that of Rack’s. The taste was familiar. The chicken wings were ok but it bordered on being a little salty. Best to have it with the rice. Speaking of rice, I preferred the Southwest Red Rice which is a tomato-based fried rice. It had more flavor than the chorizo one. The latter was just lacking in that chorizo flavor.
It’s safe to say that the style of this resto wasn’t as fiery as I thought. The dishes were okay but nothing stood out to me. I have to give them extra points in the presentation. But in terms of price, I know I could get good grilled or Mexican dishes elsewhere.
